Memory.

The 12.18. group of companies mourns the loss of its co-founder: Kai Richter, managing partner of the Düsseldorf-based group of companies, died on 7 April 2020 after a short and serious illness. He leaves behind his wife and two adult daughters.

"Our deepest sympathy and sincere condolences go to his family," explains Jörg Lindner, managing partner of the 12.18. group of companies. "Kai Richter was a very special person and a friend as one could only wish for. He was an entrepreneur in the best sense of the word and will remain a role model for all of us in many respects. I am determined to continue his life's work in the spirit of his family and according to his understanding," Lindner continued.

Kai Richter was born in Dortmund in 1967. His death marks the end of a career of more than 20 years in the real estate and tourism industry. In addition to his company Mediinvest, which he founded in 2004, Richter and his business partner Jörg Lindner have been managing 12.18. The first significant investment was the takeover of the Fleesensee Hotel & Sports Resort with three hotels, five golf courses and numerous sports and leisure facilities, which was very successfully relaunched after extensive investments and has since recorded strong growth. Since its foundation, 12.18. has expanded strongly and has invested in Germany, Spain, Italy, Great Britain and the USA. With the lifestyle concept "7Pines Kempinski", a new luxury hotel brand has been created as part of a strategic partnership with Europe's oldest luxury hotel operator Hotels S.A., whose first property "7Pines Resort Ibiza" is one of the most beautiful hotels on the Mediterranean. "7Pines Kempinski" is to grow by 20 properties in the next two years. November 2019 also saw the takeover of the delicatessen chain Schlemmermeyer, of which Richter was co-managing director until the end. Today the 12.18. group of companies employs around 2,000 people worldwide.
